Outdoor park benches are a place to socialize, read a good book, and simply relax while taking in the surroundings. But they can also serve as a special space to celebrate an important event or honor a fallen friend. A family in Henderson County, Kentucky did just that when they ordered a memorial bench to remember a loving mother and her son who perished in 2021.&nbsp;

Braelen Hicks-Schaefer and her one-year-old son, Weston,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.cbs19news.com/story/44099158/1yearold-saves-lives-through-organ-donation-after-dying-alongside-his-mom-in-crash" target="_blank">died tragically in an automobile accident</a> &ndash; leaving a huge hole in the hearts of Braelen&rsquo;s husband and family members. To pay tribute to their loved ones, Braelen&rsquo;s aunt, Jamie McCormick, contacted Furniture Leisure to create a&nbsp;<a href="https://www.furnitureleisure.com/custom-logo-and-memorial-benches" target="_blank">memorial bench</a> that they could place at a local ballpark where Braelen played as a child and was most recently a coach.&nbsp;

Braelen&rsquo;s family&nbsp;customized a&nbsp;<a href="https://www.furnitureleisure.com/custom-logo-thermoplastic-coated-steel-bench-with-back-4-ft-6-ft-or-8-ft" target="_blank">memorial bench</a>&nbsp;with a heartfelt message and large, printed vinyl photos of Braelen and Weston. Jamie expressed her gratitude to Furniture Leisure for bringing their bench vision to life. &ldquo;I wish you guys were closer to come out for the unveiling to see how happy our friends and family will be&hellip;all thanks to you!&rdquo;

The beautiful bench was&nbsp;<a href="https://www.tristatehomepage.com/news/local-news/memorial-bench-honors-son-and-mother-killed-in-crash/" target="_blank">unveiled in August 2022</a> and now sits at the Baskett Recreation Park in Henderson County where families can see their smiling faces and know Braelen and Weston are cheering the players on.&nbsp;

The Hicks-Schaefer family said they take comfort in knowing Braelen can forever watch the games she grew up to love and are hopeful that the bench will keep Braelen and Weston&rsquo;s memories alive at the ballfield.
